Type Locality: "Omilteme, Guerrero," [ Mexico].
Vernacular Names: Omilteme Cottontail.
Distribution: Appears restricted to Sierra Madre del Sur, C Guerrero ( Mexico) between 2300-5280 ft. (701-1609 m) elevation.
Conservation: IUCN – Critically Endangered; known from fewer than 10 records.
Discussion: Subgenus Tapeti ( Gureev, 1964:164) , or Sylvilagus ( Hershkovitz, 1950:335) . Reviewed by Cervantes and Lorenzo (1997, Mammalian Species, 568).
