Type Locality: Tanzania, Tanga Region, E Usambara Mtns, Amani.

Vernacular Names: Tanzanian Shrew.

Distribution: Usambara Mtns ( Tanzania).

Conservation: IUCN – Vulnerable.

Discussion: Previously known only by the holotype, but recently more specimens from the E and W Usambaras have been identified (Stanley et al., 2000 b).
