Genus Sandalodesmus Silvestri, 1902 View in CoL
Type species. Sandalodesmus salvadorii ( Silvestri, 1895) View in CoL , originally described as Odontopeltis salvadorii Silvestri, 1895 View in CoL ; subsequently designated by Rojas-Buffet et al. 2022: 261.
Diagnosis. (Modified from Rojas-Buffet et al. 2022). Males of Sandalodesmus differ from those of Oncoleptodesmus by the presence of only two dorsal macrosetae on the gonocoxites ( gcx) ( Figs 6C View FIGURE 6 , 9B View FIGURE 9 ) vs. several dorsal macrosetae of Oncoleptodesmus ( Schubart 1958: figs 1–3). By the absence of spinulations on the acropodite process ( ap) vs. the presence of numerous small spinulations along its lateral margin on Oncoleptodesmus ( Schubart 1958: figs 1–3). An exception is Sandalodesmus repandus ( Schubart, 1958) , which exhibits spinulation in this region.
