Description. FEMALE: (n = 8, dorsal view) Body fusiform, 110 (110–145), 40 (40–43) wide; light yellow. Gnathosoma 13 (11–13), projecting obliquely down, pedipalp coxal seta (ep) 2 (2–3), dorsal pedipalp genual seta (d) 4 (4–5), simple, cheliceral stylets 10 (10–11). Prodorsal shield 32 (32–33), 35 (35–37) wide, median and admedian lines parallel and encircled by a large “cell”; submedian lines incomplete and concaved at center forming two lateral bulges; anterior shield lobe, broad. Scapular tubercles ahead of rear shield margin, 4 (3–4), 3 (3–4) apart, scapular setae (sc) 11 (10–11), projecting posteriorly and centrad. Coxal plates with granules, anterolateral setae on coxisternum І (1b) 7 (7–8), 6 (6–7) apart, proximal setae on coxisternum І (1a) 11 (11–13), 10 (10–11) apart, proximal setae on coxisternum І (2a) 17 (17–19), 18 (17–18) apart. Prosternal apodeme absent. Legs with usual series of setae. Leg І 17 (17–18), femur 4 (4–5), basiventral femoral seta (bv) 5 (5–6); genu 2 (2–3), antaxial genual seta (l'') 15 (15–17); tibia 3 (2–3), paraxial tibial seta (l') 15 (15–16), located at center, tarsus 3 (2–3), seta ft' 11 (11–12), seta ft'' 12 (11–12), seta u' 2 (2–3), tarsal empodium (em) 5 (5–6), simple, 6-rayed, tarsal solenidion (ω) 6 (5–6), rod-like. Leg І 18 (17–18), femur 4 (3–4), basiventral femoral seta (bv) 8 (7–8); genu 2 (2–3), antaxial genual seta (l'') 5 (4–5); tibia 3 (2–3); tarsus 4 (3–4), seta ft' 5 (5–6), seta ft'' 11 (10–11), seta u' 2 (2–3), tarsal empodium (em) 5 (4–5), simple, 6-rayed, tarsal solenidion (ω) 6 (5–6), rod-like. Opisthosoma: opisthosoma dorsally with 26 (25– 27) annuli, with a wide furrow, dorsal annuli with filamentous microtubercles on rear annular margins; ventrally with 40 (40–42) annuli, with filamentous microtubercles on rear annular margins. Setae c2 28 (27–28) on ventral annulus 4 (4–5), 34 (34–36) apart; setae d 32 (30–33) on ventral annulus 14 (13–14), 28 (25–28) apart; setae e 13 (13–15) on ventral annulus 22 (20–22), 9 (8–9) apart, setae f 15 (15–17) on 6th ventral annulus from rear, 13 (13– 15) apart. Setae h1 absent, h2 16 (16–18). Female genitalia 9 (9–10), 15 (14–15) wide, coverflap with many short lines, setae 3a 6 (5–6), 11 (11–12) apart.

MALE: (n = 1, dorsal view) Body fusiform, 107, 45 wide; light yellow. Gnathosoma 13, projecting obliquely down, pedipalp coxal seta (ep) 2, dorsal pedipalp genual seta (d) 3, cheliceral stylets 11. Prodorsal shield 36, 40 wide. Scapular tubercles ahead of rear shield margin, 3, 4 apart, scapular setae (sc) 10, projecting posteriorly and centrad. Coxal plates with granules, anterolateral setae on coxisternum І (1b) 6, 9 apart, proximal setae on coxisternum І (1a) 10, 12 apart, proximal setae on coxisternum І (2a) 15, 24 apart. Prosternal apodeme absent. Legs with usual series of setae. Leg І 18, femur 4, basiventral femoral seta (bv) 5; genu 3, antaxial genual seta (l'') 16; tibia 3, paraxial tibial seta (l') 7, located at center, tarsus 5, seta ft' 12, seta ft'' 13, seta u' 2, tarsal empodium (em) 6, simple, 6-rayed, tarsal solenidion (ω) 6, rod-like. Leg І 17, femur 4, basiventral femoral seta (bv) 10; genu 2, antaxial genual seta (l'') 5; tibia 3; tarsus 5, seta ft' 6, seta ft'' 15, seta u' 2, tarsal empodium (em) 6, simple, 6-rayed, tarsal solenidion (ω) 6, rod-like. Opisthosoma: opisthosoma dorsally with 32 annuli, with a wide furrow, dorsal annuli with filamentous microtubercles on rear annular margins; ventrally with 35 annuli, with filamentous microtubercles on rear annular margins. Setae c2 26 on ventral annulus 3, 41 apart; setae d 38 on ventral annulus 9, 32 apart; setae e 8 on ventral annulus 18, 12 apart, setae f 20 on 6th ventral annulus from rear, 15 apart. Setae h1 absent, h2 17. Female genitalia 9, 15 wide, setae 3a 6, 14 apart.

Type material. Holotype, female (slide number NJAUAcariEriQ94, marked Holotype), from Fissistigma retusum (Lévl.) Rehd. (Annonaceae) , Bawangling Nature Reserve, Changjiang County, Hainan Province, P.R. China, 19°07ʹ03ʹʹN, 109°09ʹ02ʹʹE, elevation 650m, 30 September 2008, coll. Xiao-Feng Xue, Zi-Wei Song & Zhen Wang. Paratypes, 7 females and 1 male (slide number NJAUAcariEriQ94), with the same data as holotype.

Relation to host. Vagrant on leaf surface. No damage to the host was observed.

Etymology. The specific designation retusus is from the species name of host plant, retusum .
