Type species. Pentacecidophyes xinglongis sp. nov.
Diagnosis. Body fusiform; prodorsal shield with broad frontal lobe, scapular tubercles and setae (sc) near prodorsal shield rear margin, scapular tubercles long, scapular setae projecting posterior and centrad; anterolateral setae on coxisternum І (1b) absent; legs with tibia setae absent; opisthosoma with wide dorsal annuli and narrow ventral annuli, dorsal annuli with five ridges, middorsal, subdorsal and lateral ridges ending simultaneously; opisthosoma with all usual series of setae; empodium entire; setae h1 present; female genital coverflap appressed to coxal plates.
Etymology. The genus designation is derived from the combination of Penta -, Greek, meaning five (the type species has five dorsal ridges) and the subfamily name Cecidophyinae (whereby the postfix “inae” has been deleted and “es” added as a substitution). This genus is masculine in gender.
Notes. The new genus is assigned to Eriophyoidea , Eriophyidae , Cecidophyinae , Colomerini . The new genus is similar to Neocecidophyes Mohanasaundaram, 1980 , but can be differentiated from the latter by scapular seta normal (scapular seta arista-like in Neocecidophyes ), scapular tubercles near prodorsal shield rear margin (scapular tubercles on prodorsal shield rear margin in Neocecidophyes ), setae 1b on coxal plates absent (setae 1b present in Neocecidophyes ), opisthosoma with five ridges (opisthosoma with three ridges in Neocecidophyes ), tibia seta on leg I absent (tibia seta on leg I present in Neocecidophyes ).
