Type Locality: France, Finistere, "envoyé de Brest".
Vernacular Names: Risso's Dolphin.
Synonyms: Grampus rissoanus (Desmarest 1822) ; Grampus stearnsii Dall 1873 .
Distribution: Worldwide: temperate to tropical waters.
Conservation: CITES – Appendix II; IUCN – Data Deficient.
Discussion: Corbet and Hill (1980:110) included rectipinna in this species but it belongs in Orcinus orca .
