Diagnosis. Image (external). Wingspan: 7–9 mm (apo.).

Head, patagia, anterior part of tegulae, prothorax, basal part of costa, costal part of medial area: black, costal-medial area trapezoid.

Forewing ground colour: grey, suffused with brown and black scales.

Abdomen: grey, with dorsal tuft on basal segment.

Crosslines: antemedial and subterminal line present, relatively well marked; brown suffused with brown scales; subterminal line outwards beige outlined (apo.);

Terminal line: marked by black interneural dots.

Reniform stigma: broadly ovoid, yellow.

Male genitalia. Tegumen: relatively narrow throughout, laterally narrow platelike (apo.).

Vinculum: relatively stout, twice as broad as tegumen.

Saccus: tip long and narrow, V shaped (apo.).

Valvae: relatively narrow, slightly asymmetrical.

Clasper: barlike, slightly oblique to valva margins.

Ampulla: relatively small; slightly asymmetrical; semi-globular, apically smoothly rounded.

Juxta: slightly wider than long, platelike.

Phallus: almost straight, slightly curved, broadest by ductus ejaculatorius (apo.).

Vesica: with sclerites.

Female genitalia. Ovipositor: short, smoothly rounded posteriorly and at corners.

Posterior apophyses: as long as ovipositor.

Anterior apophyses: slightly longer than posterior apophyses (type-species).

7 th and 8 th abdominal segment: fused throughout.

Ostium: narrow; slightly displaced to left (apo.).

Antrum: cylindrical, twice as long as posterior apophyses, basal half medially expanded, posterior half cylindrical (apo.).

Ductus bursae: membranous and narrow, 1.5 times longer than corpus bursae (apo.).

Corpus bursae: globular.

Appendix bursae: arising posteriorly from ductus bursae.

Signum: cross shaped.

Bionomics. Some specimens collected in scrub-thorn forest in Malaise trap, and at black light.

Differential diagnosis. O. davisi differs from other Obscurini species in:

- small size, one of smallest in family;

- forewing grey, suffused with brown and black scales;

- crosslines brown;

- round, yellow reniform stigma;

male genitalia, in

- posterior apophyses almost as long as ovipositor;

female genitalia, in

- 7 th and 8 th segment fused;

- antrum cylindrical; twice as long as anterior apophyses.

Distribution. O. davisi known only from Sri Lanka.
