Fig. 26 View FIGURE 26

Thelcticopis canescens Simon, 1887b: 103 View in CoL (♂ ♀). Pocock 1900: 271; Gravely 1931: 245–246, ad part.: figs 7A, C (♂ ♀; doubtful synonymy of T. birmanica View in CoL ); Tikader & Sethi 1990: 181, figs 44–49 (♂ ♀).

Type material. Holotype ♂, MYANMAR: Dawei (=Tavoy): Hills separating Myanmar (=Burma) and Thailand (=Siam), date unknown, collector unknown ( MNHN 8587 View Materials ; not examined).

Distribution. India (Andaman Islands), Myanmar ( Simon 1887b; Gravely 1931; Tikader & Sethi 1990) ( Fig. 26 View FIGURE 26 ).

Remarks. The present record of this species in India is based on Gravely (1931) and Tikader and Sethi (1990). The male illustrated by Gravely (1931: fig. 7A) and Tikader and Sethi (1990: fig. 48) was not collected from India and the locality is uncertain. Moreover, the male palp illustrated by Tikader and Sethi (1990) shows significant differences as its tibia has only one apophysis, whereas the tibia of T. canescens has two lateral apophyses (cf. Tikader & Sethi 1990: fig. 49 vs. Gravely 1931: fig. 7A; see also Pocock 1900). Even though Gravely (1931) mentioned a female specimen from Andaman Islands, he did not give any other information, particularly regarding genitalic morphology. The type material or the material from Andaman Islands is not available for the present study, and therefore we cannot draw further conclusions.
