Genus Symplanella Fennah, 1987 View in CoL View at ENA
Symplanella Fennah, 1987: 244 View in CoL . Type species: Symplanella breviceps Fennah, 1987 View in CoL , by original designation.
Diagnosis. Head short, with nearly square or elongate coryphe. Metope with median and sublateral carinae. Fore wings not narrowing, but widely rounded apically, with long clavus and a nodal line. Abdominal sternite II bearing apodemes ( Figs 11 View FIGURES 4–11 , 22 View FIGURES 21–30 ). Abdominal sternites IV–VI each with deep lateral furrows, apparently separating sternites and pleurites, not reaching its hind margins ( Figs 17 View FIGURES 14–17 , 21 View FIGURES 21–30 , lf). Endogonocoxal lobes fused in shape of large sclerotization of different shape ( Figs 13 View FIGURES 12–13 , 31, 32 View FIGURES 31–32 , GxL).
Composition and distribution. Ten species distributed in China, Vietnam, Myanmar, and Thailand.
Key to the subgenera and species of Symplanella View in CoL View at ENA
1. Metope narrow, twice longer than wide between eyes ( Fig. 3 View FIGURES 1–3 ). Pronotum with narrow medial part and strongly acutely angulated anterior margin ( Fig. 1 View FIGURES 1–3 ). Penis wide and flattened laterally, with short tubular apical part ( Figs 7, 8 View FIGURES 4–11 ). Style with long and narrow caudo-dorsal angle and long neck; capitulum bearing finger shaped process apically ( Figs 9, 10 View FIGURES 4–11 ).
