TYPE LOCALITY: India, Assam, Goalpara Dist., Jamduar Forest Rest House, E bank of Sankosh River .

DISTRIBUTION: Between Sankosh and Manas Rivers, Indo-Bhutan border (on both sides).

STATUS: CITES - Appendix I; U.S. ESA - Endangered; IUCN - Rare.

COMMENTS: Subgenus Trachypithecus . For authorship of the name, see Biswas (1967). May prove to be a subspecies of pileatus
