Distribution: Southern PQ to central FL to south TX to southern MN. Kentucky specimens are from all but the two Mississippi ecoregions (Map 055).

Larval host plants: Acer rubrum , Carya spp ., Castanea spp. , Celtis , Cercis canadensis , Cornus , Juglans nigra , Nyssa sylvatica , Pyrus , Quercus spp. , Robinia pseudoacacia and Ulmus ( Linsley & Chemsak 1997)
Comments: An abundant and widespread species. This diurnal ant mimic is most often found on flowers where it can be collected in numbers.
