Distribution: PA to FL to northern Mexico to southern AZ to MN. The lone Kentucky specimen was taken at the Red River Gorge (Western Allegheny Plateau; Map 051).

Larval host plants: Apparently limited to oaks ( Quercus alba , Q. muhlenbergii , Q. prinus ; Linsley & Chemsak 1997)

Comments: This species is collected much less frequently than the similar E. atomarius . Attracted to lights.
