Xylotrechus nitidus (Horn, 1860) View in CoL ; Clytini [new state record]
Distribution: PA to VA to KY to OH. Most Kentucky specimens of this uncommonly collected species were collected in the north-central part of the state (mostly the Interior Plateau ; Map 210).
Kentucky counties: Fayette (3), Franklin (1), Grant (1), Madison (1)
Years: 1914 (1), 1922 (1), 2003 (1), 2009 (1), 2015 (1), 2021 (1)
Months: June (5), July (1)
Collections (6 records, 6 specimens): CMNH (1), EGCCRC (1), PDBC (1), UKIC (2), iNat (1)
Collection methods: Beating hedges (1), sweeping (1)
Larval host plants: Unknown
Comments: Although records are scant, beating or sweeping appear to be the best ways to collect this species. Unfortunately, since its host plant(s) are unknown, what to beat/sweep remains the prime question.
