Distribution: A Holarctic species ranging across Eurasia from the UK to Japan. In North America , it ranges from NS to FL to southern CA to central AK. Kentucky specimens are from two widely separated counties (Map 012).

Collection methods: Malaise trap (1); panel trap baited with α-pinene (2)

Larval host plants: Larix , Picea , and Pinus ( Bousquet et al. 2017)

Chemical lures: Turpentine ( Gardiner 1957), ethanol + α-pinene ( Chenier & Philogene 1989), a blend of 3-hydroxyhexan-2-one + (2 R *,3 R *)-2,3-hexanediol + racemic (E)-fuscumol + racemic (E)-fuscumol acetate + monochamol + racemic 2-methylbutan-1-ol ( Hanks & Millar 2013) and fuscumol and fuscumol + acetate ( Millar et al. 2017)

Comments: Attracted to lights.
