Material examined. Stn. ICA — 13.iii. 2006, 18 m, S120: small, sterile colony, epizoic on Sertularella polyzonias ( MHNG INVE 53376 ) .
Description. Colony small, up to 3 mm high, comprising a few erect hydrocauli arising from creeping stolon. Cauli monosiphonic, sparingly and irregularly branched; branches arising sharply upwardly. Perisarc undulated nearly throughout, but smooth stretches may also occur. Hydrothecae shallow, walls slightly diverging, rim recurved; hydrothecae generally renovated once, with new hydrothecae borne on quite long secondary hydranthophores; diaphragm thin. Hydranths very extensile, largely protruding from hydrothecae; with about 18 filiform tentacles. Gonothecae not observed.
Remarks. In the absence of gonophores, the identification of the present material is impossible. Due to its undulated perisarc this species resembles H. textum Kramp, 1911 , but no records of the latter are available from the southern hemisphere.
Records from Chile. The present material was found at Isla Camello.
