Distribution: Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra and Java ( Indonesia).
Conservation: IUCN 2003 and IUCN / SSC Action Plan (2001) – Lower Risk (lc).
Discussion: megaphyllus species group. McFarlane and Blood (1986) suggested that characters used by Lekagul and McNeeky (1977) to separate stheno and malayanus may not be reliable, but see Corbet and Hill (1992), Csorba and Jenkins (1998), and Hendrichsen et al. (2001 b).
