2. Burmeistera andakiana F.González & Garzón, Phytotaxa View in CoL 474 (2): 155. 2020.

Type:— COLOMBIA. Caquetá: 10 km SW of San José del Fragua ( SW of Florencia ), 320‒340 m, 10 Jan 1974 (fl, fr), G. Davidse, A. Gentry & F. Llanos 5700 (holotype: COL! [ COL000113714 View Materials ]; isotypes: MO! [ MO1290259 ], NY! [ NY01185716 , NY01185717 ]). Figs. 2E–H View FIGURE 2 , 3 View FIGURE 3 .

Epiphytic or scandent herbs up to 12 m tall. Stem finely puberulent when young, then glabrescent. Petiole 12‒25 mm long, glabrous; blade elliptic, narrowly elliptic or narrowly ovate, 10‒18 × 3‒6 cm, glabrous above and beneath, base cuneate, slightly asymmetric, apex acuminate, margin subentire to slightly sinuous, sometimes slightly toothed, with one to two marginal hydathodes per centimeter of margin, secondary veins 12 to 19 pairs, intramarginal vein present, discontinuous. Peduncle 5.5‒6.5 cm long (to 8 cm in fruit), glabrous, ebracteolate. Hypanthium subglobose, 4‒5 × 3‒4 mm, glabrous to glabrescent. Calyx lobes linear, 4.0‒5.5 × 0.6‒1.0 mm, patent to ascending, basally spaced by broad sinuses to 1 mm wide, margin with two to three minute teeth per side, apex acute, glabrous. Corolla green often with maroon tints, glabrous; tube 1.4‒1.8 cm long, not inflated proximally, slightly inflated distally; lobes narrowly ovate, falcate, dorsal lobes (14‒)16‒18 × 2.5‒3.5 mm, lateral lobes 10‒12 × 2.2‒3.2 mm, ventral lobe 8‒12 × 2.0‒ 2.2 mm. Synandrium 3.2‒4.0 cm long, exserted up to 2 cm; filament tube 2.7‒3.3 cm long, finely puberulous; anther tube 5–7 mm long, puberulous proximally, homogeneously villous distally, ventral anthers ebarbate. Berries globose, 1.2‒2.2 × 1‒2 cm, inflated, glabrous, green, purple or white.

Phenology: —All known collections of this species have been found in flower and fruit from January to May, and from October to December.

Distribution, ecology and conservation status: — Burmeistera andakiana was collected in the departments of Caquetá and Putumayo ( Colombia). Its type specimen, a tree epiphytic herb up to 60 cm high, was collected in a tall forest below 350 meters above sea level, being this the first site for the genus in the Amazon basin of Colombia. The remaining specimens have been collected as canopy epiphytes in mature, sub-Andean, riparian forests at the eastern slopes of the Eastern Cordillera up to 2200 m of elevation. Following the IUCN´s (2022) criteria [B1(EOO) and B2(AOO), conditions (a) and (b)], B. andakiana qualifies as Critically Endangered.

Notes: — Burmeistera andakiana resembles B. vulgaris , from which it differs by the young stems finely puberulent, the leaf blade with 12 to 19 secondary veins per side, the peduncle 5.5‒6.5 cm long, the corolla with lateral lobes 10‒12 mm long and ventral lobe 8‒12 mm long, and the mature berries green to white (versus the stems glabrous throughout, the leaf blade with 7 to 12 secondary veins per side, the peduncle 7–9(–12) cm long, the corolla with lateral lobes 13‒14 mm long and ventral lobe 6‒8 mm long, and the mature berries vinaceous in B. vulgaris ).
