Figs. 440, 487, map 1.

Holotype (female): Papua New Guinea, Morobe Prov.: New Guinea (NE), Wau , Morobe Dist., Mt. Missim [7° 10' S, 146° 54' E], 800–1050 m, 8–9.II.1963, J. Sedlacek, depository: Bernice P. Bishop Museum, Honolulu, Hawaii, USA ( BPBM). GoogleMaps

Diagnosis. The female subgenital plate of P. missim is similar to that of P. pugio in that both share a membranous area in midline, the lobes being only on proximal surface furrowed, and the lateral surface being convex. P.missim differs by the female subgenital plate having the baso-internal angle a little pronounced, the lobes at baso-lateral angle acute-angular, the external margin of the lobes convex, and there is no lateral projection separated from the subgenital plate proper ( Figs. 440, 487).

Description. Fastigium verticis in front of eyes 1.1 mm, from base 1.6 mm; dorsal eye length 1.6 mm; greatest diameter of eye 1.6 mm; index fastigium verticis from base: eye length 1.0. Face rugose but shining. Tegmen surpassing apices of hind femora; gradually narrowed behind basal widening. Femora with the following number of spines on ventral margins: fore femur 5–6 external, 6 internal; mid femur 6 external, 2–3 internal near base; hind femur 10–11 external, 4–5 minute internal near base.

Male unknown.

Female. Tenth abdominal tergite furrowed in midline. Subgenital plate triangular in general outline; split from apex to basal third; baso-central area membranous; resulting lateral plates globular, with transverse basal furrow; internal margin almost straight ( Figs. 440, 487).

Coloration. Yellowish brown. Face with black band between eyes including scapus; with another black band along clypeo-frontal suture. Tegmen with pattern of dark cells and light veinlets distinct.

Measurements of female: body 32; pronotum 7.8; tegmen 30.5; hind femur 20.5; ovipositor 18.5 mm.

Etymology. Named after the type locality; noun in apposition.
