Holotype (female): Papua New Guinea, East Sepik: D. N. Guinea, Kaiserin Augustafl. Exp. 404, Lager am Lehmfluss [4°43'S, 144°8'E], IV.–V.1913, Bürgers, depository: Museum für Naturkunde der Humboldt- Universität , Berlin, Germany ( ZMB). GoogleMaps
Diagnosis. The female subgenital plate of the new species is similar to that of P. abbreviata in that the very base is deeply, transversely grooved on both sides and only near midline elevated ( Fig. 435). It differs by the very base being gradually instead of suddenly furrowed, the hind margin of the furrow being oblique instead of straight ( Fig. 481), and the lobes being obtuse, upcurved towards apex with the internal margin strongly concave ( Fig. 515). From other species of the genus, P.lehm also differs by the peculiar shape of the female subgenital plate.
Description. Fastigium verticis in front of eyes 1.3 mm, from base 1.8 mm; dorsal eye length 1.8 mm; greatest diameter of eye 2.0 mm; index fastigium verticis from base: eye length 1.0. Median ocellus slightly projecting. Face subsmooth in middle, with large but shallowly impressed dots, rugose towards genae. Tegmen little surpassing hind knees; pre-subcostal area wide in basal two thirds, narrow in apical third. Femora with the following number of spines on ventral margins: fore femur 8 external, 6 internal; mid femur 6–7 external, 3 internal near base; hind femur 12 external, 7–8 minute internal in basal area.
Male unknown.
Female. Tenth abdominal tergite transverse. Subgenital plate transverse, curved, apico-central area elevated and in apico-ventral view almost horse-shoe-shaped, i.e. apical margin with two rounded lateral lobes and broad-roundly excised in between; with a weak median furrow ( Figs. 435, 481, 515).
Coloration. Brownish. Face yellowish brown (green when alive?); antennal scrobae, fastigium above median ocellus and ventral side of scapus dark brown; clypeo-frontal suture dark brown, broadly interrupted in middle; mandibles concolorous, only very apex darkened. Pronotum dark brown; disc with two yellow spots: before first and behind second transverse sulcus; ventral area of paranota and legs brown (green when alive?). Tegmen brown with a network of light veins and veinlets; dorsal field light. Fore tibia with dorsal surfaces darkened and with light spots at tympana and apex. Hind knees darkened. Ovipositor reddish brown.
Measurements of female: body 39; pronotum 9.8; tegmen 36; hind femur 23.5; ovipositor 22 mm.
Etymology. Name refers to the type locality; noun in apposition.
