10. Digitaria junghuhniana (Nees ex Steud.) Henrard (1930: 11) .— Panicum junghuhnianum Nees ex Steud. (1853: 63) . Type:— INDONESIA, Java, F.W. Junghuhn s.n. (holotype L!; isotype B).

Annual. Culms tufted and decumbent, ascending, up to 50 cm high, nodes hairy. Sheaths 2.5–5 cm long, densely pilose, margin membranous. Ligules 1.2–2.7 mm long. Blades lanceolate to linear, 5–12 cm by 3–8 mm, chartaceous, both surfaces densely pilose, apex acuminate, margin serrulate and sinuate at one side. Inflorescences composed of racemes; peduncles glabrous; common axis 3–7 cm long. Racemes 8–14, longest 4–10 cm long, verticillate and alternate along the common axis; rachis triquetrous, 0.3–0.5 mm wide, margin smooth. Pedicels glabrous; abscission truncate. Spikelets binate, homomorphous, lanceolate, 2.4–2.7 mm long, apex acute; hairs smooth with acute apex. Lower glume bifid, 0.1–0.2 mm long. Upper glume lanceolate, 1.3–1.6 mm long, acute, pubescent between nerves, nerves 3. Lower lemma lanceolate, as long as the spikelet, pubescent between nerves but with broad glabrous interspaces beside the midnerve, nerves 7, inequidistant; Upper lemma lanceolate, as long as the spikelet, apex acute, brown to dark brown. Anthers 0.4–0.5 mm long, brownish. Caryopsis oblong-ellipsoid, 1.3–1.4 mm long, yellowish.

Distribution: — Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines.

Selected specimens examined: —PENINSULAR MALAYSIA. Pahang: Cameron highlands, R. Kiew, H. Duistermaat and Mohd. Nazri FRI 70426 (KEP, L).

Ecology: —Open forest, sandy or volcanic soils; elevation 200–2,300 m.

Conservation status: —The conservation status of this species was classified as LC by Brummitt (2013) according to the IUCN (2012) criteria

Note: — Digitaria junghuhniana is a native species from Indonesia and the Philippines. This is the first record for the Malay Peninsula.
