Genus Oncotympana Stål, 1870

Remarks. Currently, Oncotympana includes eight species from the Philippines: O. pallidiventris Stål, 1870 (Samar and Mindanao), O. grandis Lee, 2010 (Luzon) , O. viridicincta Stål, 1870 ( Philippines) , O. nigristigma (Walker, 1850) ( Philippines) , O. simonae Lee, 2010 (Luzon) , O. brevis Lee, 2010 (Luzon) , O. undata Lee, 2010 (Luzon) , and O. averta Lee, 2011 (Mindanao) . Lee (2010b) provided a key to the eight species, of which “undescribed sp.” should now be changed to averta .

Mohagan; 7 males (including two song-recorded males with specimen codes 10. PH.MN.SCI.01 and.02), Mindanao, North Cotobato, Kidapawan, Ilumabis, Mt. Apo, northwestern slopes near Marbol R., 1208 m, 07°01.022’N 125°13.956’E, 9 VII 2010, K.B.R. Hill, D.C. Marshall, J. Jones, D. Mohagan; 7 males, same data except 9–11 VII 2010; 10 males (including two males with specimen codes 10. PH.MN.APO.01 and.02), Mindanao, North Cotobato, Kidapawan, Ilumabis, northwestern slopes of Mt. Distribution. Philippines (Mindanao).

Remarks. This species was identified as Oncotympana viridicincta (from the Philippines) by Endo & Hayashi (1979). Lee (2010a, 2010b, 2011) treated this species as an undescribed species. By examining many more specimens of O. averta from Mindanao, it became evident that the undescribed species is identical with O. averta . The type locality in the original description by Lee (2011) was the Philippines without further details. Now, this species is newly recorded from Mindanao.
