Diagnosis. Clypeus as long as wide, emarginate apically. Female without cephalic foveae. Vertex raised dorsally behind ocelli. Mesosoma flattened dorsoventrally. Pretegular carina present. Mesoscutum without prescutal grooves. Tegula usually longer than wide, emarginate on inner margin posteriorly, not reaching apex of parategula. Axillary fossa slit-like. Metanotum barely convex, non-dentiform. Mesepisternum without epicnemial carina. Propodeum gradually sloping from base to apex, dorsal surface basally with longitudinal slit, from which runs median carina to apex; posterior surface with dentiform projection. Propodeal valvula produced. T1 long and slender, in lateral view swollen dorsally in apical third, in dorsal view distinctly swollen apically; usually with preapical longitudinal furrow. S1 long and narrow anteriorly, weakly striate, nearly entirely fused with T1; posterior part short, triangular, not striate. Mid tibia with one spur. Prestigma equals to length of pterostigma. SMC2 of fore wing basally acute. Ƌ: F11 hook like, rounded apically; F10 shorter than F9; apical flagellomeres without cavity on inner margin. Body length usually 15–20 mm.

Distribution. Palearctic and Oriental regions.

Remarks. No specimens from south India examined, but its diagnosis is based on its inclusion in an unpublished key by one author (J.M. Carpenter).
