Prothymidia vuilletorum (Horn, 1914) View in CoL
Guinea-Bissau and People`s Republic of Congo.
Distribution in Guinea –Bissau: 36.
Specimens sampled: Coli (Quebo), 16.VII.2006, 1 ɗ, 1 Ψ, “DO”, ( AS).
Remarks: A nice and small species with a disjoint distribution, known only for one locality in Guinea- Bissau. It was recorded for the first time to this country by Serrano (1997), occurring in a small savannah near the “tabanca” (= native village) of Alage Cabiro. In the fortnight of July of 1995 the adults were abundant in this habitat, but in the same period of 2006 only three adults were monitored in the same habitat. However, by the presence of hundreds of first instar larvae in the soil, we presume that the adults appeared sooner in 2006, probably at the end of May. P. vuilletorum , as was pointed out by Serrano (1997), was recorded erroneously for Senegal and Niger. Its presence in People`s Republic of Congo needs confirmation.
