The sole species in this undescribed genus has blind, subterranean workers and is known only from desert regions of southwestern United States. A description is in preparation, based on collections of workers, queens and males from southeastern Arizona (Cover & Deyrup 2005). Alates of apparently the same species have been collected in southern California. Mackay and Mackay (2003) recorded the same species from New Mexico and tentatively assigned it to the genus Tranopelta Mayr   HNS .
