Heleomyzidae View in CoL View at ENA ( Figs. 98–104 View FIGURES 98–104 )
The Heleomyzidae View in CoL is one of the most distinctive and complex schizophoran families in Chile. The family comprises 540 described species grouped into 76 extant genera ( Pape et al. 2011). Some authors have published Chilean species of heleomyzids ( Aldrich 1926; Malloch 1933; McAlpine 1985). Some families with species described from Chile are now included with the Heleomyzidae View in CoL as Notomyzidae ( Notomyza Malloch View in CoL , with N. abrupta Malloch View in CoL , N. edwardsi Malloch View in CoL , and N. micropyga Malloch View in CoL ), Trixoscelidae (with Spilochroa guttata Macquart View in CoL ), and Cnemosphatidae (with nine species of Prosopanthrum Enderlein). No taxonomic studies on Chilean species of Heleomyzidae View in CoL have been published recently.
