Type species: Anilara brasiliensis Kerremans, 1900 (by original designation).
Anilarodes (as subgenus of Tetragonoschema View in CoL ): Théry, 1944: 9 (key); Bellamy, 2008: 1517 (catalogue).
Diagnosis of the genus. Small (3.3–4.3 mm), subparallel, weakly convex species, black or black with blue-green lustre; dorsal surface asetose, frons with rather long, white pubescence; ventral surface with very short, sparse, nearly invisible, grey pubescence, without tomentose spots; entire dorsal surface with silky lustre, elytra with mirror-effect along suture; frons flat; vertex 1.5–2.0 times as wide as width of eye; pronotum cordiform, about twice as wide as long with wide, shallow lateroposterior depressions; pronotal sculpture consisting of fine, small, polygonal cells with tiny central granules; scutellum triangular, twice as long as wide; elytra 1.9–2.3 times as long as wide, each elytron widely, obtusely rounded apically; elytral epipleura narrow, reaching apical fourth of elytral margins; anal ventrite horizontal with sublateral groove and wide, transverse, preapical impression; aedeagus ( Fig. 67 View FIGURES 64 – 71 ) flattened, parameres enlarged from base to apical fourth, then sharply narrowed; median lobe sharply pointed apically. The pronotal sculpture, form of scutellum, general form of male genitalia and the anal ventrite indicate that the genus Anilaroides stat. nov. is closely related to the genus Tetragonoschema . In addition to the characters given in the key these genera differ significantly in the shape of pronotum and elytra (pronotum usually much wider with weakly developed lateroposterior depressions and elytra conspicuously shortened in Tetragonoschema ), in the elytral sculpture (distinctly ocellate in Tetragonoschema ), in the form of elytral epipleura (reaching or nearly reaching elytral apex in Tetragonoschema ) and in the position of the anal ventrite which is nearly vertical in Tetragonoschema (as a result of the shortened abdomen). This genus was described by Théry (1934) as a subgenus of Tetragonoschema in the comment following his description of Tetragonoschema lesnei Théry, 1934 (currently in the genus Brachelytrium Obenberger, 1923 ). Théry, 1944 also described the species, T. (A.) grouvellei Théry, 1944 , so the genus at present contains two species.
