Further specimens studied. BRAZIL. BAHIA:, San Antonio da Barra, 1890, Ch. Pujol leg. (2 males, NMPC) ; no precise data, Dr. Lotte coll. (1 male, ISNB) ; San Antonio da Barra, Gounelle, xi.–xii.1888 (2 males, 1 female, MNHN) .
Diagnosis
Elongate, Anthaxia -like, black species with blue-violet or purple tinge; frons and anterior pronotal angles with white pubescence, remainder of pronotum and elytra asetose; entire dorsal surface with very fine sculpture and silky lustre; pronotal ocellation fine with basal microsculpture, cells with tiny central granules; lateroposterior pronotal depressions well-developed; humeral portion of elytra with indistinct ocellate sculpture, remainder of elytra with very fine, rugose sculpture and dense microsculpture; apex of each elytron widely rounded; aedeagus rather short, parameres widened posteriorly with narrow, pointed tips, median lobe wide, pointed apically ( Fig. 67 View FIGURES 64 – 71 ).
Length: 4.0– 4.3 mm.
Since the number of syntypes is unknown I hereby designate the male from MNHN as the lectotype and specimens from BMNH (2 males) and MFCB (2 males) as the paralectotypes of Anilara Brasiliensis Kerremans.
Bionomy. Unknown.
Sexual dimorphism. The female differs from the male only in the purple lustre of the dorsal surface.
Distribution. So far known only from the type locality: Brazil, Prov. Bahia.
