Type data: Friese (1924) described this variety using a single male collected by Ducke in Alcântara, northeastern Brazil. The holotype is currently housed at AMNH and it has the following data label: Maranhão Alcantara 27.9.1903 Ducke [handwritten]\ C. collaris v. infernalis Fr. ♀ [handwritten] 1901 Friese det. [printed]\ Am. Mus. Nat. Hist. Dept. Invert. Zool. No. [printed] 26446 [handwritten]\ [light blue label] HOLOTYPE Centris maerens infernalis Friese, 1924 F. Vivallo lab, 2017 [handwritten] ( AMNH).

Type locality: Brazil: Maranhão state: Alcântara .

Comment: This species has been recorded in the Brazilian states of Maranhão and Pará ( Moure et al. 2007).
