The species is very common in China and often found in urban area. Its larvae were found in many kinds of decaying plant and animal tissues. It is characterized as a secondary invader to carrion, appearing after certain sarcophagids, calliphorids, and M. scalaris ( Barnes, 1990). Recently the morphological features of immature stages of D. cornuta View in CoL were observed ( Feng and Liu 2012).
