TYPE LOCALITY: No locality mentioned; restricted to Argentina, Tucumân, Tucumân, by Sanborn (1930) .

DISTRIBUTION: E Bolivia and SW Brazil south through the Gran Chaco of Paraguay to Argentina (Buenos Aires).

SYNONYMS: apar Desmarest, 1822; bicinctus Grandidier and Neveu-Lemaire, 1905; brachyurus G. Fischer, 1814; conurus I. Geoffroy, 1847; muriei Garrod, 1878.
