Guyalna bogotana ( Distant, 1892a) View in CoL new record
Fidicina bogotana Distant 1892a: 58 View in CoL . (Bogotá, Colombia)
Remarks. The greenish tawny head and thorax with ochraceous abdomen gives this species a very similar general appearance to Dorisiana semilata . However, the presence of a curved timbal cover with ventral margin parallel to the long body axis distinguishes it as a species of Guyalna rather than Dorisiana . In addition, G. bogotana is a narrower species with a more posteriorly projecting mesothorax. The transverse fascia through the ocelli is thin and incomplete, there is no transverse piceous fascia posteriorly on the head, and the anterior extension is less than half the posterior extension from the lateral angle of the pronotal collar is about the same size in G. bogotana .
Distribution. The species has been reported previously from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru ( Metcalf 1963a; Sanborn 2013; 2020b, d; Sanborn & Heath 2014) with a recent range expansion for the species into Venezuela ( Sanborn 2020a).
