Remarks. Taphura boulardi can be distinguished from all other Taphura by the five spots on the dorsum of the head ( Sanborn 2017a). Males of T. boulardi possess claspers that curve dorsally and form a terminal hook. The notch in female abdominal sternite VII almost reaches the anterior margin medially, the notch is semi-circular medially connected to a short transverse section before angling to the posterolateral corner.
Distribution. The species was known previously from French Guiana and Suriname ( Sanborn 2011a; 2017a) with recent range expansions to include Peru ( Sanborn 2020b) and Ecuador ( Sanborn 2020d).
Material examined. “ TRINIDAD: St. George/Co., 1.9 mi. W, of Cumuto/“Indian Walk Ride”/ Forest Rd. , 27- VII-1975 / K. W. Knopf ” one female ( FSCA) .
