The lateralis View in CoL species group
Diagnostic characteristics. Medium to large sized, head dark brown to black, light yellowish on pronotum and elytra which are covered with black or dark brown marking, elytra flat, striae shallow, intervals flat.
This species group is composed of five species / subspecies: Hexachaetus lateralis lateralis (Guérin, 1843) from Malaysia and Indonesia, H. lateralis maindroni Tian et Deuve, 2006 (n. stat.) from Sarawak, Malaysia, H. maculatus Tian et Deuve, 2004 from Sumatra, Indonesia, H. kirschenhoferi n. sp. from northern Borneo, Indonesia, and H. brunki n. sp. from northern Borneo, Malaysia ( Fig. 20 View FIGURE 20 ).
