"Habitat in Virginia." RCN: 6546.

Lectotype (Sherffin Publ. Field Mus. Nat. Hist., Bot. Ser. 16: 315. 1937): Clayton 195 (BM-000038865).

Current name: Bidens laevis (L.) Britton ( Asteraceae ).

Note: Sherff (in Bot. Gaz. 61: 504. 1916) stated that he had been unable to find Clayton 195 at BM, although it had previously been reported as present by Gray. Sherff subsequently designated it as the type.
