Types examined: Syntypes 1♀ from ETHIOPIA: Oromiya: Arero , 9 April 1937, leg. Zavattari ( MZUF 404 ), and 2♀ from Mega , 4°01′N, 38°15′E: 3-7 May 1937, leg. E. Zavattari ( MZUF 405 ) .

Comments. This species is known from a single taxonomic entry. Judging from the habitus, pattern, and shape of the epigyne, it undoubtedly belongs to Synema . Although the abdominal pattern in specimens from two localities looks similar, their epigynes are rather different: the specimen from Arero has a broader transverse plate. The figure of epigyne provided by Caporiacco (1939) was printed upside down ( Fig. 6F ).
