Paraphelopus Olmi 1991: 120 (synonymized by Olmi, 1998e); type species: Paraphelopus townesi Olmi 1991 , by original designation.
Type species. Crovettia theliae ( Gahan, 1918) , by original designation.
Diagnosis. Female: fully winged ( Plate 10A, B View PLATE 10 ); epistomal suture situated at same level of antennal toruli ( Plate 4G View PLATE 4 ); occipital carina complete; antenna without rhinaria; palpal formula 5/2, or 5/3, or 6/2, or 6/3; fore wing with only costal cell enclosed by pigmented veins (as in plate 11A, B) or with costal and medial cells completely enclosed by pigmented veins ( Plate 10A, B View PLATE 10 ); fore wing with pterostigma present ( Plate 10A, B View PLATE 10 ) and stigmal vein straight ( Plate 11A View PLATE 11 ), or forming an angle between the proximal and distal parts ( Plate 4E View PLATE 4 ); course of fore wing veins not marked by dark stripes ( Plate 10A, B View PLATE 10 ); hindwing ( Plate 10A View PLATE 10 ) hyaline, with costal cell, without dark medial longitudinal stripe; protarsus not chelate ( Plate 10A, B View PLATE 10 ); tibial spurs 1/1/2. Distribution. Present in the Oriental, Nearctic, Neotropical and Australian regions. Never collected in the Afrotropical region. Present at the Oriental border of the Palaearctic ( Nepal).
Hosts. Membracidae ( Guglielmino & Olmi, 1997) .
World species. Fifteen species are known, two in the Oriental region.
