Material examined. None. Distribution. Arabian Peninsula: Saudi Arabia ( Klug 1845). Remarks. Described as Onthophagus by Klug (1845), and later placed in the subgenus Phalops by d’Orbigny (1898). Phalops was upgraded to a generic rank by Lansberge (1883). Phalops chalybeus is known only from the female holotype.
