Literature quotes. SAUDI ARABIA : Hejaz, “Hedjaz” (d’Orbigny 1898c).
Material examined. None.
Distribution. Arabian Peninsula: Saudi Arabia ( Ziani & Bezděk 2016). North Africa: Morocco ( Ziani &
Bezděk 2016). Asia: Middle East, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan ( Ziani & Bezděk 2016). Europe: central and southern Europe ( Ziani & Bezděk 2016).
Remarks. Onthophagus furcatus is the only truly Palaearctic species of the subgenus ( Zunino 1981) and its presence in the Arabian Peninsula is unlikely, and requires confirmation. The historic record from Saudi Arabia could be referred to Onthophagus (Furconthophagus) aethiopicus d’Orbigny, 1902 .
