Sabinea tridentata Pequegnat, 1970: 115 View in CoL , figs 4–16, 4–17 (type locality: southeastern Gulf of Mexico, 391 m); Pequegnat et al. 1971: 10; Dardeau & Heard 1983: 5, 7 [key], 8 fig. 2b, 29 fig. 15, 30.

Lissosabinea tridentata View in CoL — Komai 2006: 41, figs 5-6; Poore 2004: 136, 138 fig. 36a, 139 [= L. arthuri Taylor & Collins 2009 View in CoL , non Lissosabinea tridentata ( Pequegnat, 1970) View in CoL ]; Taylor & Collins 2009: 176 [key], 184, fig. 7.

Material examined: United States : Holotype, male, cl 4.0 mm (USNM 128808), R/ V “ Alaminos , Cruise 65A, Gulf of Mexico , off Florida, stn 9–21, 24°58’12.0”N, 84°16’48.0”W, 14.vii. 1965, 391 m. Paratype: 1 ovigerous female, cl 4.3 mm (USNM 128809), GoogleMaps same data as holotype. Brazil: 1 female, cl 3.1 mm (MZUSP 33444), R/ V “Marion Dufresne”, TAAF MD 55/Brésil Expedition, Vitória-Trindade Seamount Chain, Montague Bank, stn 16 DC29 , 20°26.5’S, 36°41.4’W, M. Tavares coll., 14.v.1987, 310– 350 m, sand with foraminiferans GoogleMaps .

Distribution. Gulf of Mexico, off Flórida, 391 m and Brazil (Vitória-Trindade Seamount Chain), 310- 350m.

Remarks. The female of L. tridentata from Brazilian waters agrees well with the type specimens from the southeast Gulf of Mexico. However, in the female paratype the branchiostegal spine is straight and obliquely directed upward ( Komai 2006: 5 B), whereas the female from Brazil agrees better with the male holotype in having the branchiostegal spine less strong and more forwardly directed. Here it is confirmed that L. tridentata has two arthrobranchs at the base of the third maxilliped, one large and a much smaller one well discernible in the Brazilian specimen.

Lissosabinea tridentata is heretofore known from its type locality in the southeast Gulf of Mexico, off Florida (24°N), and is reported here for the first time from much farther south, Brazil (20°S), off the coast of Espírito Santo, Vitória-Trindade Seamount Chain, Montague Bank, between 310 and 391 m ( Pequegnat 1970; Dardeau & Heard 1983; Vázquez-Bader & Garcia 2013; this report).

Lissosabinea tridentata and Lissosabinea christofferseni sp. nov. both have a transverse row of four acute teeth on the posterior margin of the sixth pleonal sternite followed by a preanal spine ( Fig. 4B, D View FIGURE 4 ). To the best of our knowledge, within Crangonidae , such a similar armature is only found in the crangonid Placopsicrangron formosa Komai & Chan, 2009, in which the posterior margin of the sixth pleonal sternite bears a transversal row of about 12 spines near the posterior margin (see Komai & Chan, 2009: 255, fig. 2D, E). An examination of the other species in Lissosabinea needs to be carried out to ascertain how general this feature is in the genus.
