1 Catasticta flisa View in CoL (Herrich-Schäffer, [1858]) (TL: Mexico)
(fig. 3: a-i; fig. 12)
Catasticta flisa View in CoL is the most common and widespread species of the genus, occurring in a wide variety of habitats and distributed over more than 50% of the known range of the entire genus. Two subspecies were previously known for the country: Catasticta flisa briseis Eitschberger & Racheli, 1998 View in CoL (TL: Venezuela, Aragua, Maracay), distributed from 1000 to 2200 meters in the Cordillera de la Costa, from Yaracuy to Miranda, and Catasticta flisa dilutior Avinoff, 1926 (TL: Colombia, Chaochi [= Choachi]) (= C. hermione Reissinger, 1972 View in CoL ), which is quite common from Trujillo south-westwards to Táchira.
The species was recently collected for the first time in the Serranía del Turimiquire (Sucre and Anzoátegui), where it is quite scarce. Although only a few specimens were available, we describe a new subspecies to highlight their peculiar pattern and isolated distribution.
