16 Catasticta duida Brown, 1932 View in CoL (TL: Venezuela, Mt. Duida )
(fig. 10: g-h; fig. 27)
Catasticta duida was described from Mt. [Cerro] Duida (Amazonas, ~ 3°21’N, 65°40’W) on the basis of 7 males and 2 females, plus 1 male from Mt. Roraima ( Brazil). Recently we examined 6 males in MIZA that were collected on Cerro Yutajé (Amazonas: 5°45’N, 66°6’W), Kukenán Tepui (Bolívar: 5°19’N, 60°49’W) and Kamarkabarac Tepui (Bolívar: 5°59’N, 62°01’W). These data suggest that C. duida likely occurs on most Venezuelan tepuis higher than 1700–1800 m. In spite of the isolation of these populations from each other, there is no evidence of subspecific differentiation. Catasticta duida was filmed by a Japanese group on top of Cerro de La Neblina (Amazonas: ~ 0°48’N, 66°01’W) (A. Orellana, pers. comm.).
