Type Locality: Bolivia, Oruro, "Orujo." .

Vernacular Names: Andean Hairy Armadillo.

Synonyms: Chaetophractus sajama Suárez and Morales 1986 .

Distribution: Bolivian departments of La Paz, Oruro, and Potosí.

Conservation: CITES – Appendix II; IUCN – Vulnerable.

Discussion: Distribution and status uncertain, may be a subspecies of vellerosus (see Wetzel, 1985 b).
