Hassallia sp. ( Fig. 15D–F View FIGURE 15 ).
Filaments entangled, epiphytic on other cyanobacteria, 5.51–8.27 (9.62) µm wide. Sheath firm, 0.4–1.56 µm wide, non-lamellated, hyaline to brown. Trichomes cylindrical, slightly attenuated, heteropolar, intense tolypothricoid branches, constricted. Apical cell conical to rounded-conical, intensely constricted. Cells sub-quadratic to short, 4.06–6.67 µm wide, 2.11–5.26 µm long, ratio l/w = 0.69. Cell content granulated, grayish-purple. Basal heterocyte elliptical, 3.83– 6.76 µm wide, 2.48–5.83 µm long. Necridia present.
Habitat: —Tree bark; associated with Nostoc interbryum .
Notes: —This morphotype differs from other Hassallia species in relation to its apical cell being intensely constricted
