Gloeothece samoensis Wille (1913: 144) ( Fig. 7Q View FIGURE 7 ).
Colonies round to elliptical, with 2–4 cells, 9.06–21.77 µm wide. Sheath firm, with 2 or more lamellae, hyaline. Cells oblong, 4.05–6.04 µm wide, 4.44–7.44 µm long. Individual envelope present or not. Cell content granulated, blue-green.
Habitat:— Wet soil associate to Lyngbya ocreata and Aphanothece pallida .

Colonies round or solitary cells, 10.57–66.4 µm wide. Sheath firm, conspicuous, 0.74–3.23 µm wide, lamellate, smooth, hyaline to greenish-yellow to reddish-brown. Cell elliptical, spherical or irregular, 2.77–9.62 µm diam. Individual envelopes present or not, smooth to slightly granulated, non-lamellated, 0.45–1.36 µm wide. Cell content homogenous to granulated, blue-green.
