Type Locality: México, Michoacán, Mt Tancítaro.
Vernacular Names: Goldman's Diminutive Woodrat.
Synonyms: Nelsonia cliftoni Genoways and Jones 1968 .
Distribution: Cordillera Transvolcanica, México, from Colima and S Jalisco eastwards through N Michoacán to N Estado de México.
Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
Discussion: Engstrom et al. (1992) retained cliftoni as a valid subspecies.
