Recognition Characters. Medium­sized to large, oval, moderately robust; derm fuscorufous; male rostrum, 0.64 as long as body; frons, 0.27 as wide as head across eyes; hind femoral tooth medium­sized, with proximolateral sulcus from base to club; pronotum with basal, diamond shaped, white macula; elytra, with short testaceous vitta on interval 1 distad of scutellum followed by white vitta to apex; sternites 1 and 2 with lateral macula of cretaceous scales.

Description. Male: Length: 5.5 mm. Width: 2.9 mm. Head: Medium­sized, moderately convex, short, almost contiguous to anterior margin of pronotum; eyes flat, large, finely faceted; clothed with narrow, elongate, ochraceous scales dorsally and white scales ventrally. Frons broad, 0.27 as wide as head across eyes; clothed with dense narrow, elongate, ochraceous scales between eyes; with feeble interocular fovea. Rostrum: Length: 3.5 mm. 0.64 as long as body; cylindrical; margins subparallel to antennal insertion, then narrowing to apex; almost straight to antennal insertion, abruptly arcing straight down to apex; dorsal carina from frons to antennal insertion; punctures oval with clavate, ochraceous scales, from frons to antennal insertion; punctures from antennal insertion to apex small, oval and numerous; scrobe lateral; scape inserted in apical half. Antennae: Length: Scape 1.9 mm; Funiculus: segment one 0.45 mm, two 0.45 mm, three 0.25 mm, four 0.2 mm, five 0.15 mm, six 0.15 mm, seven 0.15 mm, club 0.65 mm; funicle 2.1 mm; scape 0.92 as long as funicle; clothed with dense, narrow, elongate, ochraceous scales, with few erect apical setae on each funicular segment; club elongate, suboval, acuminate, segments 1–3 equal in length, 4 short and conical, as long as funicular segments 4–7. Thorax: Length: 1.5 mm. Width: 2.2 mm. 0.69 as long broad as long; disc with margins parallel to past midpoint, then abruptly rounded to narrow constriction; slightly convex in lateral view; disc punctures small, shallow, close together, densely clothed with narrow, elongate, ochraceous, with some white scales mixed; basal macula of white scales proximal to scutellum; feeble macula of white scales anterodorsally; base sinuate, with median declivity to scutellum; mesosternal intercoxal process prominent, clothed with ochraceous scales; scutellum large, as broad as long, impressed, clothed with white scales; mesepimeron densely clothed with clavate scales dorsally and ochraceous scales ventrally; mesepisternum clothed with ochraceous scales; metepisternum clothed with ochraceous scales, with a ventrodistal macula of white scales; metasternum with lateral convex nodule proximal to metacoxae; procoxae clothed with clavate, white scales. Elytra: Length: 3.5 mm. Derm fuscous; striae of moderate depth with narrow, elongate, white and ochraceous, scales; humeri moderately prominent, angular and rounded; intervals broad, flat, densely clothed with narrow, elongate, ochraceous scales, some white scales mixed in with scattered macula of white scales; interval one with short vitta of fuscous scales distad to scutellum; crosshatched scales short some white producing feeble vitta on interval one in distal third; disc flat, except for central declivity to scutellum. Legs: Length of hind femur 2.6 mm, tooth medium­sized, acute, with feeble indication of keel; profemoral tooth small, mesofemoral tooth medium, not as large as hind femoral tooth; all femora moderately clavate, base moderately robust; hind femur with proximolateral sulcus from base to club; clothed with narrow, elongate, ochraceous scales; hind tibiae sinuate; pro­ and mesouncus large, longer than tarsal claw; metauncus medium, as long as tarsal claw. Abdomen: Derm fuscous; sternite 1 as long as 2 behind coxal cavity with median flat area; sternites 3 and 4 equal in length, combined longer than 5; sternites 1 and 2 with lateral macula of cretaceous scales, with vitta of ochraceous scales on distal lateral aspect of sternite 1; remaining vestiture of clavate, ochraceous scales. Pygidium: Large , clothed with elongate, white, seta­like scales. Genitalia: Median lobe of aedeagus 1.4 mm in length, 0.45 mm in width, broad with margins evenly narrow, thin, evenly arced in lateral view, apex abruptly arced down to even acute apex; aedeagal apodeme 1.3 mm in length ( Figs. 76–78 View Figs ).

Female: Length: 5.0– 5.2 mm (mean 5 5.1). Width: 2.6–2.8 mm (mean 5 2.7). Rostrum: Length: 3.3–3.5 mm (mean 5 3.4) scrobe lateral, scape inserted at midpoint. Antennae: Length: Scape 1.2–1.3 mm (mean 5 1.25). Funiculus: segment one 0.45 mm, two 0.3 mm, three 0.2 mm, four 0.2 mm, five 0.15 mm, six 0.1 mm, seven 0.1 mm, club 0.6 mm; funicle 1.5 mm; scape 0.84 as long as funicle; club longer than funicular segments 4–7. Thorax: Length: 1.4–1.5 mm (mean 5 1.45). Width: 2.0– 2.2 mm (mean 2.1). Disc with central macula of narrow, elongate, white, with a few ochraceous scales. Elytra: Length: 3.2–3.4 mm (mean 5 3.3). Confused white macula more numerous than in male. Legs: Length of hind femur 2.3–2.5 mm (mean 5 2.4). Abdomen: Sternite 1 with mostly ochraceous lateral macula; sternites 1 and 2 with white vitta. Pygidium: Concealed. Genitalia: Spermatheca ramus elongate, finger like; collum short rounded; cornu evenly thick to blunt rounded apex ( Fig. 79 View Figs ).

Distribution. China: Yunnan Province, Xishuangbanna, 08 May 1958, F. Pu; Fujian Province, Jianyang, 16 May 1960, F. Pu.

Remarks. This new species looks similar to C. maculanigra . However, length of the hind femur and scale pattern separate these two species. Male genitalia will also separate them. A figure of male genitalia for C. maculanigra can be found in Morimoto (1962) Plate 2 figure G. This species is named in honor of the senior author’s grandson Mario.

Recognition Characters. Small­sized, broadly ovate; derm fuscous; hind femoral tooth large­sized; pronotum with two large basolateral macula; elytra with fascia of clavate cretaceous scales at midpoint on all intervals except 3 and 9.

Description. Male: Length: 2.6–3.0 mm (mean 5 2.8). Width: 1.5–1.7 mm (mean 5 1.6). Head: Small­sized, slightly convex; punctures small, with small narrow, elongate, cinerous scales; eyes large, oval, with moderately coarse facets. Frons, narrow, 0.15 as broad as head across eyes; clothed with narrow, elongate, cinerous scales. Rostrum: Length: 1.6 mm, 0.57 as long as body; derm testaceous; cylindrical, margins subparallel, broad at base, gradually tapering to apex; slightly arced; middorsal carina from frons ending before antennal insertion, two lateral carinae from frons to antennal insertion, deep oval punctures between carinae; scrobe ventral; scape inserted at midpoint. Antennae: Length: Scape 0.6 mm; Funiculus: segment one 0.2 mm, two 0.15 mm, three 0.1 mm; four 0.1 mm, five 0.1 mm, six 0.1 mm, seven 0.1 mm, club 0.35 mm; funicle 1.1 mm; scape 0.55 as long as funicle; clothed with narrow, elongate, cinerous scales and apical erect setae; club elongate, oval, compact, with velvety pile, few erect setae, as long as funicular segments 1–7. Thorax: Length: 0.8 mm. Width: 1.2–1.3 mm (mean 5 1.25 mm). 0.64 as long as broad; disc margins subparallel, broadly rounded to constriction, slightly convex in lateral view, punctures small, close together, shallow, clothed with elongate, clavate, testaceous scales; two dorsobasal macula of elongate, clavate, cretaceous scales on each side of disc; pleuron clothed with elongate, clavate, testaceous scales; mesosternal intercoxal process prominent, clothed with broad, clavate, cretaceous scales; scutellum small, longer than broad, bifid, clothed with cretaceous scales; mesepimeron densely clothed with broad, clavate, cretaceous scales; mesepisternum clothed with few clavate, testaceous scales; metepisternum clothed with short, narrow, testaceous scales anteriorly, with a broad, clavate, cretaceous macula posteriorly; metasternum clothed with broad, clavate, cretaceous scales; procoxae clothed with narrow, elongate, cretaceous scales. Elytra: Length: 1.9 mm. Striae moderately deep, punctures without scales; shallow scutellar declivity; intervals broad, flat, clothed with elongate, clavate, testaceous scales mixed with few white scales; midpoint with macular fascia on interval 2, 4, 5–8 of clavate, cretaceous scales; disc feebly convex; crosshatched setae short, thick, and testaceous. Legs: Hind femur 2.7 mm in length, large­sized tooth, wedge shaped with acute apex; profemur with medium tooth; mesofemur with large tooth; derm fuscous basally, fuscorufous apically, clothed with narrow, elongate, white scales; tibiae sinuate; pro­ and mesouncus large; metauncus small. Abdomen: Sternite 1 as long as 2 behind coxal cavity, with median shallow declivity; sternite 2 ascending to 3; sternite 3 longer than 4; sternites 3 and 4 combined longer than 5; sternites 1 and 2 densely clothed with clavate, cretaceous scales laterally, smaller, narrower, white scales medially; sternites 3–5 clothed with narrow, elongate, cinerous scales; sternite 5 with truncate apex, with lateral apical tufts of white seta­like scales. Pygidium: Small ; clothed with tuft of dirty white, seta­like scales. Genitalia: Median lobe of aedeagus 0.5 mm in length, 0.2 mm in width, margins rather broad then narrowing to arced apices, thin in lateral view, apex broadly narrowed to a rounded point; apodeme 0.7 mm in length ( Figs. 66–68 View Figs ).

Female: Length: 3.0 mm. Width: 1.8 mm. Rostrum: Length: 1.8 mm. Scape inserted in basal half. Thorax: Length: 1.9 mm. Width: 1.9 mm. Disc with middorsal carina; two lateral vitta of elongate, clavate, white scales, extending from basal macula to anterior margin of pronotum. Elytra: Length 2.1 mm. Abdomen: Sternite 1 with broad, clavate, cretaceous scales laterally and medially; sternite 3 with small median macula of broad, clavate, cretaceous scales; sternite 5 with median declivity, with narrow, elongate, erect, white, seta­like scales. Pygidium: Concealed. Genitalia: Spermatheca ramus and collum undifferentiated; cornu thick basally evenly tapered to acute apex ( Fig. 69 View Figs ).

Distribution. China: Yunnan Province, Xishuangbanna, 650 M, 19 May 1958, S. Wong.

Remarks. This is a a small species that cannot be confused with any other species in this group. However, it looks similar to C. delicatulus Marshall (compared with Holotype in collection of BMNH by senior author), but lacks the subscutellar short cretaceous vitta on interval 1 and has larger basolateral cretaceous macula on pronotum. It is named in honor of senior author’s grandson Matthew.

Medium­sized, elongate oval, moderately robust; derm piceous; rostrum, 0.74 as long as body; frons broad, 0.28 as wide as head across eyes; hind femoral tooth large­sized; hind femur with broad proximolateral sulcus, with deep punctures; vestiture of small, narrow, elongate, white scales; mesepimeron, first, second sternites, and prosternum, ventrad of rostrum with macula of broad, clavate, ochroleucus scales; hind femoral club dorsally angular, rather than evenly rounded.

Description. Male: Length: 5.2–5.7 mm (mean 5 5.45). Width: 2.6–2.8 mm (mean 5 2.7). Head: Moderately convex; moderately large punctures with small narrow, elongate, white scales; ventral macula of clavate, white scales; eyes large, oval, finely faceted; frons broad, 0.28 as wide as head across eyes; slit­like interocular fovea; punctures larger, with few small, narrow, elongate, white scales. Rostrum: Length: 4.0 mm, 0.74 as long as body; cylindrical; margins subparallel tapering to slightly expanded apex; almost straight to antennal insertion, thickened at base gradually tapering to apex, curved down abruptly after antennal insertion; indication of dorsal carina; lateral carinae above scrobe from frons to antennal insertion; glabrous from frons to apex; punctures oval, deep to antennal insertion, smaller, oval to apex; scrobe ventral; scape inserted in apical half. Antennae: Length: Scape 1.6–1.8 mm (mean 5 1.7); Funiculus: segment one 0.50 mm, two 0.45 mm, three 0.25 mm, four 0.2 mm, five 0.25 mm, six 0.2 mm, seven 0.2 mm, club 0.6 mm; funicle 2.6 mm; scape 0.7 as long as funicle; derm of scape fuscous; funicle moderately clothed with narrow, elongate, dirty, white scales, with few erect setae toward apex of each segment; club elongate, oval, compact, acuminate; clothed with, short, velvety pile, longer than segments 4–7. Thorax: Length: 1.5–1.6 mm (mean 5 1.55). Width: 2.1–2.2 mm (mean 5 2.15). 0.73 as long as broad, with margins subparallel to midpoint, then angular to constriction, somewhat rounded; disc feebly convex laterally; median carina indistinct except at anterior margin; punctures large, shallow, with short, narrow, elongate, white scales; ventral macula between procoxal cavity of broad, clavate, white scales; base sinuate with moderate median declivity; mesosternal intercoxal process prominent, clothed with broad, clavate, and narrow, elongate, white scales; scutellum medium­sized, as long as broad, with small, narrow, elongate, white scales; mesepimeron densely clothed with broad, clavate, ochroleucus scales; mesepisternum with small, narrow, elongate, white scales; metepisternum clothed with smaller, broad, clavate, white scales, anterior margin with small, narrow, elongate, white scales; remainder of sternum with narrow, elongate, white scales; feeble indication of postocular lobe; procoxae clothed with narrow, elongate, white scales. Elytra: Length: 3.0– 3.3 mm (mean 5 3.15). Striae deep with narrow, elongate, white scales; with scutellar declivity; humeri moderately prominent, angular and rounded; intervals broad, flat with 2 rows of narrow, elongate, white scales; without macula; crosshatched setae small. Legs: Length of hind femur 3.0– 3.1 mm (mean 5 3.05), tooth large­sized, wedge shaped, with acute apex, base with broad proximolateral sulcus, set with deep punctures extending to club; pro­ and mesofemoral tooth small; club of hind femur large, dorsal ridge angular, rather than rounded; all femora clothed with larger, narrow, elongate, white scales; hind tibial margins straight, subparallel; pro­ and mesouncus as long as tarsal claw; metauncus bifid; pad of third tarsal segment luteous. Abdomen: Sternite 1 longer than 2 behind coxal cavity, with broad median flat area; sternite 2 ascending to 3; sternite 3 longer than 4; sternite 5 as long as 3 and 4 combined; sternites 1 and 2 with lateral macula of broad, clavate, ochroleucus scales; remaining scales on all sternites small, narrow, elongate, white. Pygidium: Small ; clothed with elongate, ochroleucus, seta­like scales. Genitalia: Median lobe of aedeagus 1.4 mm in length, 0.3 mm in width, evenly broad with thin margins narrowing abruptly to long spatula shaped apex ( Fig. 72 View Figs ), somewhat sinuate, rather thick, apex sharply arced in lateral view: apodeme 1.8 mm in length ( Figs. 70–72 View Figs ).

Distribution. China: Yunnan Province, Xishuangbanna, 21 April 1958, 650 M, F. Pu; 28 August 1958, 850 M, Y. Zhang.

Remarks. This species resembles C. shopfneri n. sp. and C. tonkinensis within the group, but can be separated by length and shape of rostrum, presence of mesepimeral macula, shape of femoral club and male genitalia.
