(Figs. V-11, VI-11, XV-10)

Lemula brunneipennis Shimomura, 1979: 274 View in CoL , figs. 1, 2. Type locality: Pilu-shenmu (=Bilushenmu), Hualien County, Taiwan.— Nakamura et al., 1992: 11.— Yu & Nara, 1988: 13, 14, pl. 3, fig. 8.— Yu et al., 2002: 24–25, 78, pl. 3, fig. 11.— Hua et al., 2009: 10, 137, 273, Pl. 10, fig. 117.— Nakamura et al., 2014: 19.

Diagnosis. Male: BL = 6.5–7.8 mm. Dorsal surface strongly shiny; head black with anterior portion of mandibles reddish brown; antennomeres I–IV black, V–XI blunt dark brown; pronotum mostly black though sometimes slightly take on reddish along basal margin; elytra reddish to brownish orange; legs dark brown except for reddish brown meso- and metafemora; ventral surface mostly reddish to yellowish brown except for blackish prosternum and head. Head and pronotum sparsely covered with intermixed different length of flying pale hairs which are randomly directed; elytra sparsely furnished with two kind of golden hairs which are few erect long hairs and short slanted hairs.

Head sparsely covered with small punctures; antennae reaching apical three-fifths of elytra.

Pronotum as long as width across lateral tubercles (PL/PW = 1.00), sparsely covered with small punctures, strongly constricted at a short distance behind apex with a blunt round tubercle at middle of each side; disk strongly inflated with slight median longitudinal impression.

Elytra slender (EL/EW=2.06); disk with moderately spaced shallow punctures.

Endophallus (Type B). Very similar with that of Lemula setigera . Dorsal view: CT swollen distally, ds small sphericity surrounded by cordiform dm and lrs; PB weakly inflated laterally; APH nearly round shaped. Lateral view: CT weakly inflated ventrally; PB produced dorsally and moderately inflated ventrally with angulate colored distal corner; APH circular.

Female: BL = 7.0– 8.1 mm; PL/PW = 1.01; EL/EW = 2.01. Antennae short, not reaching middle of elytra; elytra slightly widened from humeri towards apical fifth.

(G-1038, 1039)]; Songquangang (Ḷş 崗), Ren'ai Township , Nantou County [1♀, 2,500 m, 4-VII-2014, W.-I Chou leg.] .

Distribution. Taiwan (Hualien, Nantou).

Ecology. Flight period: March–July. Flower records: Prunus , Sycopsis , Lithocarpus .
