Type material. Holotype male RMBH Sph 0928: RUSSIA, Kunashir Island, Tretyakovo village, coniferousdeciduous forest, 43°59'13"N, 145°39'12"E, 04.vii-06.vii.2021, E. Spitsyna & V. Spitsyn leg. GoogleMaps Paratypes RMBH Sph0927, Sph0996−Sph0998: the type locality, the same date and collectors, 3♂, 1♀ .
Diagnosis. The new subspecies differs from the nominate one by having a strongly toothed outer margin of the wings.
Description. Male morphology: Wingspan 77–84 mm, forewing length 40–42 mm (N = 4). Eye dark grey. Antenna brownish orange on the inner side, creamy on the outer side. Labial palpus dark grey, its length equal to the eye’s diameter. Head, thorax, patagium, and tegula dark grey. Legs grey, outer side of tibia and tarsus creamy grey. Forewing upperside grey, with four wavy lines running from costal margin to anal margin; antemedial stripe dark grey. Outer margin toothed. Marginal area from R4 to Cu1 dark grey. Forewing underside light grey with wavy postmedial and submarginal lines. Marginal area from R4 to Cu1 dark grey. Hindwing upperside grey with two wavy postmedial lines; marginal area from Rs to Cu1 dark grey. Outer margin with a strong ledge in the area of Rs and M1 veins. Hindwing underside repeats the pattern of the upperside; marginal area from Sc+R1 to Cu1 dark grey. Abdomen grey. Male genitalia: Tegumen broad; uncus and gnathos form a typical “bird- beak” structure; valva slightly elongated, rounded apically. Saccular process of valva typical for the genus. Aedeagus long, slightly curved. Vesica long, with two fields of spines. Female morphology: Wingspan 91 mm, forewing length 46 mm (N = 1). Eye dark grey. Antenna brownish orange on the inner side, creamy on the outer side. Labial palpus dark grey, its length equal to the eye’s diameter. Head, thorax, patagium, and tegula dark grey. Legs grey, outer side of tibia and tarsus creamy grey. Generally, the female’s wings coloration is similar to that of the male but it is noticeably lighter. Abdomen grey.
