Distribution
Palaearctic. Described from West Siberia ( Maximova 2002), no other previous records were known. New to Europe, Finland and the Republic of Karelia.
Ecology
The Karelian specimen was collected in Vaccinium myrtillus type sprucedominated forest. The Finnish sampling site is a headwater stream surrounded by old-growth boreal forest. Immature stages are unknown.
Taxon discussion
Mycetophila biformis Maximova, 2002 is a junior primary homonym of Mycetophila biformis Duret, 1992. A replacement name will be given by the author in the near future (Yu. Maximova, pers. comm.).
