This genus is extremely rare in collections and known only from a few specimens. Recently, Machado & Rafael (2011) described Fillus amazonicus View in CoL from the Brazilian Amazon basin from two males and two females, providing detailed illustrations of abdominal characters of both sexes. Penny (1981a) and Machado & Rafael (2011) point- ed out that F. brethesi View in CoL and F. paradoxus View in CoL could represent the same species.
